California Goes for Broke…Texas Goes for Sanity

Inquiring minds are laughing at the stark contrast between two different views happening in two states going in two different directions.

First, you have California. By some estimates the state is $500 Billion in debt because of public labor unions and has already had to pass out IOU warrants because it is broke. The real estate market is in a shambles and is getting worse. Companies are leaving in droves. Some estimates show that California has lost about 7% of its population. In short, the state is a complete mess.

Then you have Texas. 4 of the 10 fastest growing cities in America are in the state. Texas has some of the lowest tax rates in the country. Companies of all types are setting up shop there. The real estate market is down but much less than the national average. The state is very strong financially.

Now look at events of the last week in the two states:

California State Supreme Court announces that, yes, illegal aliens can and will get in-state tuition.

Texas A&M Student Senate votes to cut off in-state tuition to illegal aliens.

Hmmmm….maybe common sense and intelligence do have an effect on your environment.
