AP Gins up Scandal by idiotic Testing Methods

Just one question...Are kids licking the outside of these glasses? Or do the offending chemicals leech through the glass? How else then can these materials affect users?

Inquiring minds are reading of another “poisoning scandal” of America. How many does this make? There was the mellamine in human food, the mellamine in dogfood, and the drywall with super-high sulfur contaminants. That can’t be all. Now it has been proven that cheap Chinese manufacturing has once again put in peril the American public…and most importantly it is our youth:

Drinking glasses depicting comic book and movie characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman and the Tin Man from “The Wizard of Oz” exceed federal limits for lead in children’s products by up to 1,000 times, according to laboratory testing commissioned by The Associated Press.

The decorative enamel on the superhero and Oz sets — made in China and purchased at a Warner Brothers Studios store in Burbank — contained between 16 percent and 30.2 percent lead. The federal limit on children’s products is 0.03 percent.

The same glasses also contained relatively high levels of the even-more-dangerous cadmium, though there are no federal limits on that toxic metal in design surfaces.

Not so fast! It looks as if the AP is ginning up a scandal. First, look at the above photo. The testing ‘gun’ is testing the glass on the OUTSIDE! And, second, the glasses are painted with the enamel on the OUTSIDE and towards the end of the article we find that the glasses are manufactured perfectly within legal guidelines by a New Jersey company:

The New Jersey manufacturer of those glasses said in June that the products were made according to standard industry practices, which includes the routine use of cadmium to create red and similar colors.

It appears the AP is pushing a racist agenda considering the negative thrust of the article is about China and their correctly made product is being used properly.

You can always tell when manure is being thrown by the MSM…they claim it was a “random” test on the glasses and they give the model number of the testing equipment. A sure sign that the ‘journalists’ involve don’t know anything about what they are writing about…unless they are lying through their teeth (which, as the has seen, is a very high possibility).

So, which is it AP…your incompetence or a lack of integrity?

  1. If we stop buying cheap shit from China and make it ourselves we can get back to normal!

  2. Chris,

You’ve missed the major point…China didn’t make it, we did! Last time I checked, New Jersey was in the United States. And the glasses were made within regulations. It is a media created crisis. I just heard it described incorrectly on Coast-to-Coast with George Norrie. He said that the glasses were made in China. But they WEREN’T!!! :-))
